If You Liked This, You'll Like This | BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS

April 08, 2020

I think we're all looking for some new book recommendations now we're in quarantine! So i thought i'd do a few "If you liked this, you'll like that" recommendations.
Sometimes i think it can be quite hard to tell if i'll like recommendations bloggers give me because i never know their taste.
I think this way should help because you know if you liked these books or not! So without further ado, let's get into it!

1. If you liked The Cruel Prince, you will probably like The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller
I will not stop recommending the shadows between us. I thought it was absolutely FANTASTIC, and i really think that anyone who is a big fan of the cruel prince would enjoy it as much as I did. Although this book doesn't involve fae, i think it has lots of elements that are very similar to the cruel prince. It has an enemies to lovers romance where both of the main characters are slytherin AF. The main characters in this one reminded me ALOT of Cardan and Jude - without being carbon copies. Also, the shadows between us is very focussed on political intrigue in the same way that the cruel prince is.
If you loved the characters, romance and politics of the cruel prince then the shadows between us is going to be perfect for you!

2. If you liked The Raven Cycle, you might like The Boy Who Steals Houses by C.G. Drews
Okay. So these books are completely different genres, the raven cycle is magical realism and the boy who steals houses is contemporary, BUT i really think they follow similar themes. Both books are heavily character driven and focus on found families. They also both have GORGEOUS prose so if you love that kind of writing you will really enjoy both these books.

3. If you liked The Mortal Instruments, you will probably enjoy Demons at the Doorstep by Rachael Bell-Irving
This is a self-published book that i read earlier this year and i absolutely loved it! It is an urban fantasy that has lots of similarities to the mortal instruments. The main characters are fighting demons in a unique magical world. Also, the male character will be perfect for fans of Jace. He has a similar sense of humour to Jace and i love how him and the female character bounce off each other.
This book is the start of a really fantastic series and i can't recommend it enough!

4. If you liked Simon vs the Homosapian agenda you will love Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales
Not only are both of these books LGBT+, i think they have very similar writing styles. I love how Becky Albertalli writes books where the side characters are just as full and developed as the main characters. Sophie Gonzales also does this perfectly in Only Mostly Devastated.
Also both of these books deal with the struggles of coming out in high school. In Only Mostly Devastated, Will is not out in the book and struggles with his feelings for Olly.
It is such a fun read and i think if you're a fan of any high school romances you will love it.
(also it's a retelling of grease - need i say more?)
